Men
are not so familiar with the needs of women! Working and growing
together is a great need for Christian women all over. For doing all
kinds of projects women need each other to get ideas and to share what
the Lord is putting on their hearts. Praise His Holy Name.
We
had our 50th anniversary last December 2009. Our guest speaker was our
beloved sister Livija Lame and what she shared was very encouraging;
she showed us pictures of our sisters in Europe and that made us feel
like we were there right with them. I personally learned a lot from her
and already am putting it to use!

We
had a wonderful celebration with around 100 sisters from around l8
churches, coming from far and near. Some came from l20 kilometres away
on buses. We invited previous Presidents of the Union and there were
eight of them attending. We had questions for them regarding their
experiences with the Union in the past. Our celebration coincided with
the Day of Prayer and so we had a fancy lunch with a nice big cake that
was large enough for everyone. We also gave the sisters a special
candle reminding them that we are like candles shining in a dark world.
The best part of the Celebration was our guest of honour, sister Livija
Lame, President of EBWU. She gave each one of the Presidents a scarf
with EBWU engraved on it. That was a nice gift to remind us of the
importance of belonging to such a Union and of course our greatest
Unity is with our beloved Saviour, and members of His body. Praise His
Holy Name. We prayed together, after we were divided into groups, for
the different needs of the various Unions all over the World. The
sisters had a memorable time! We prayed for a new vision for the LBWU
for the next 50 years and asked for God's help in carrying on with our
responsibilities as a team to do God's will for the Union in Lebanon.
Please pray for us as we are in the process of changing our 50 year old
constitution and changing many other things. We are having our May
general meeting in a couple of days and expecting over a 100 sisters to
come. Our speaker is a counsellor who will talk to the sisters about
how to alleviate pressures in women's lives, which will be relevant to
us. May God bless.
Nawal Nehme, President LBWU
